The First Software Turcorn: Insider

Insider, Turkey’s first unicorn in software, was founded in 2012 by Hande Çilingir and her partners in Istanbul. The company offers services to increase the sales of e-commerce websites, provides tools that manage customer behavior and personalize the customer experience by making predictions about customers’ future decisions using an artificial intelligence-based data analytics system. Insider has managed to quickly gain a foothold in the global market as its technology has attracted the attention of domestic and foreign investors. The company, which had received a total of $14.5 million in the Series A and Series B rounds, closed the Series C round with $32 million from Silicon Valley-based Riverwood Capital. [1] With the company valuation reaching to 1.2 billion dollars in the Series D round, Insider became the sixth Turcorn. [2]

Insider, used by more than 1000 brands in 28 different countries since its inception, has achieved successful expansion in Asia, Europe and Latin America. [3] Besides being one of the top 10 B2B software Unicorns, the company is reportedly one of the few female-led software Unicorns in the world.[4] This successful initiative is not only an example for Turkish entrepreneurs in the software field, but also a source of inspiration for women entrepreneurs in general.
