First Turcorn: Peak Games

Peak Games, Türkiye's first "Turcorn" and a leading mobile gaming company, founded in Istanbul in 2010 by Sidar Şahin, has achieved significant success in the international gaming market. Designing and developing puzzle games for Android and iOS platforms, the company managed to secure a .5 million investment just seven months after its establishment.[1] Peak Games rapidly grew, attracting attention in the international market, and in 2017, its card and okey game studio was acquired by the US-based gaming development giant Zynga for 0 million.[2] With its game series Toon Blast and Toy Blast, Peak Games ranked among the top 10 revenue-generating games in the US and reached more than 12 million active mobile users. [3] Following its acquisition by Zynga for .8 billion in 2020, Peak Games became Türkiye's first "Turcorn," signifying a billion-dollar venture.

The Contribution of the First Turcorn to the Ecosystem:

Peak Games' success played a significant role in making Türkiye the most invested country in Europe when it comes to gaming ventures, surpassing its counterparts. According to data from Startups.watch, between January and June 2022, 13 Turkish gaming ventures received a record-breaking total investment of 3 million, the highest ever recorded.[4]

In addition to attracting foreign investors' interest to our country, Peak Games became a source of inspiration for game developers, contributing to the emergence of multiple new ventures. The fact that 28 out of 80 individuals who left the Peak Games team went on to found startups, with 65 of them being in total, including 28 in game development, is a clear example of Peak Games' contribution not only to the gaming sector but also to the overall growth of Türkiye 's entrepreneurship ecosystem.
